Dr. Simone Dundas,

Dr Simone DundasDr. Simone Dundas is a consultant paediatric surgeon at the University Hospital of the West Indies and an associate lecturer in surgery. She was awarded the Doctor of Medicine postgraduate degree in Paediatric Surgery by the University of the West Indies in 2004. During her period of postgraduate training she familiarized herself with first world trauma care, working at the Children’s National Medical Centre in Washington, D.C. and British Columbia Children’s Hospital in Vancouver, Canada.

Practiced paediatric surgery at the Bustamante Hospital for Children, the

Caribbean’s largest paediatric trauma referral centre, for several years before her

appointment to the University Hospital in 2007.

Dr. Dundas offers a referral practice in paediatric general surgery and urology

at the Ruthven Medical Centre Monday and Thursday afternoons. She sees

children up to 18 years old and also offers antenatal consultations for foetal

malformations. She is accessible for emergency paediatric surgical referrals at

all times.

• Excision of lumps, bumps, extra digits • Splenectomy • Cholecystectomy

• Hypospadias Repair • Resection of solid organ tumours for undescended

Dr. Dundas also offers management of chronic constipation in children.

She maintains a continuing interest in the correction of congenital

anomalies and in paediatric trauma management. She has published research

in areas as diverse as “The Management of Antenatally-Diagnosed Choledochal

Cysts” and “Gunshot Injuries in Preadolescent Jamaican Children”.

Simone is married to Paul Byles and is the mother of three.
